FEBRUARY 2020

LAKE TAHOE

February 1, 8, & 22 | 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Take an evening to slow down and enjoy the peaceful setting of the Sierra Nevada during Northstar’s guided, evening snowshoe tours. The 2 – hour tour begins at the Cross Country, Telemark & Snowshoe Center at 5 pm. The group will meander through the pine tree-lined forest, ultimately concluding the tour at The Village at Northstar. During the adventure, snowshoer’s will also relax around a fire pit to enjoy s’mores and hot chocolate. Dogs on leashes are welcome to join in on the fun.

What is your best Mountain Life? A showcase of local artists depictions of how they live “mountain life”.

North Lake Tahoe’s Snowfest is a 10-day winter carnival with numerous events and activities celebrating the Lake Tahoe winter scene. Fun to be had by all ages..be it kids, families, adult only, or animal events…SnowFest! has it all!

February 8  | 7:00 am – 10:00 pm
Face your fears and tackle your phobias head-on during an evening of some of the scariest science. Whether your fear is clowns, bugs, electric shock, needles, or just the fear of fear itself, prepare to explore the science of scary. For ages 21+. You can purchase tickets online or at the door. Ticket price includes two drinks and complimentary hors d’oeuvres.

February 15 & 16
Your favorite TV show is now giving you a new way to experience it firsthand! The Bachelor Live on Stage is making its way across the country in an exciting new way, guaranteed to be packed with all the gossip, drama and romance like never before. Promised to be the ultimate evening for any fan, with your favorite previous Bachelor’s and Bachelorette’s will serve as your hosts, and in true Bachelor style, one eligible hometown Bachelor will be finding his soulmate among the local ladies in the audience.

Divas’ Day Out will showcase over 100+ businesses on-site for shopping, giveaways and information on health, fitness, beauty, fashion, motherhood, finance, education, career and fun… all the things that women love!

February 29  | 8:00 am – 8:00 pm
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. This event called TEDxUniversityofNevada, where x=independently organized TED event. At TEDxUniversityofNevada, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

CARSON

February 9 | 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
This imaginary landscape inspired by Nevada desert scenery and given a wild punch of color is a delight to paint in watercolor. Taught by professional artist, Dana Childs, who seeks to inspire painters as well as inform and encourage them.

February 27 – 29 | 12:00 pm
The independent film competition winners will be shown as part of the film weekend on Feb. 27 – 29. This special weekend consists of free afternoon and evening film viewings followed by informal discussion. Afternoon showings will spotlight the independently made films selected by the International Film Weekend Committee, while evening viewings will consist of award-winning, commercially-produced international films including Babette’s Feast and Mar Adentro (The Sea Inside).
