Eclectic, Vibrant, Close

Northwest Reno is a delightful combination of older, vintage homes around the university and successively newer homes as you get closer to Somersett. The area is bounded by 395 to the east, I-80 to the south, Somersett on the west side and Peavine to the north.

Near the university, you'll find an eclectic mix of older single-family homes, duplexes, triplexes, small apartment buildings and a wonderful pocket of lovely homes originally built for faculty on several beautiful tree-lined streets.

Nearby Rancho San Rafael, home of the infamous Great Reno Balloon Race, is a favorite of locals, with plenty of space for the kids to play and miles of walking trails for those who like to roam.

Moving toward McCarran Avenue, homes are more modest and affordable, yet still close to Downtown Reno. Past McCarran the homes are newer, sitting lightly in the hills with many options for dramatic mountain views.

Most homes in the area are on standard city lots, and most aren't a part of any homeowners association. There are some good schools in the area along with some interesting rental investment opportunities.

Home prices start in the low $200,000s and go up to over $600,000 in some areas up high where the properties and views tend to be a little more luxurious.
