Woodsy, Relaxed, Wonderful

Galena Forest is located just below St. James Village and above Montreux. The area was once called Robber’s Roost by Mark Twain, who said the posse that ran between Reno and Carson City was held up by robbers who roosted like birds in the trees, waiting for their unsuspecting victims.

Across the street in Galena Creek Park, you'll find miles of wilderness hiking trails that will take you deep into Mt Rose Wilderness and all the way to the Tahoe Rim Trail if you so desire. Galena Creek itself runs through the community which borders Toiyabe National Forest. Here you'll find a mountain living vibe, where most of the homes are custom.

Galena Forest Estates has two entrances from Mt. Rose Highway. One is on Joy Lake Road, which ends at St. James Village, and the other is Douglas Fir Drive, which eventually connects to Scotch Pines, a gated community located within Galena Forest Estates.

Most homes in the area are on at least one-half to one-acre lots, and some of the properties are part of a homeowner’s association, while others are not. Over 90% of the homes are owner-occupied, and homes can run anywhere from $500,000 up to over a million.
