Tahoma-Meeks Bay

20 minutes south of Tahoe City down the west shore, you'll find the small, quiet communities of Tahoma and Meeks Bay.

Tahoma offers a small market, a post office, a couple of cafes, lodging and easy access to Sugar Pine Point State Park with camping, hiking, beaches and the historic Hellman-Ehrman mansion.

You can ride your bike from here all the way to Tahoe City on the regional bike trail, which is approximately nine miles on gently hilly terrain.

Further south, Meeks Bay and Rubicon Bay offer secluded custom homes, some with stunning lake views, not to mention gorgeous beaches, camping, lodging and trailheads leading into Desolation Wilderness.

Most of the properties in this area are used as vacation homes, with prices starting at $400,000 for small, fixer cabins and running well over $10 million for lakefront estates.
