Old Southwest Reno Truckee River NV

Historic, Cheerful, Serene

Old Southwest Reno is located just south of downtown, bounded by the Truckee River, Virginia Street, Plumb Lane and McCarran Avenue. The neighborhood consists of smaller cottage homes on tree-lined streets with tidy yards and lovely sidewalks, mixed in with larger, sprawling ranchers on manicured lots.

Along California Street, you'll find some of Reno's finest historic estates, perched high on the bluff overlooking the Truckee River, Mount Peavine and Downtown Reno. This is a walk-to-everything location, with midtown, downtown, the river and Idlewild park all within minutes by foot.

Most homes in the area are on average city lots, with a few on much larger parcels. Typically not part of any homeowners association, properties are generally owner-occupied, and home prices can run anywhere from $500,000 up to over $10 million for one of the estate properties on the bluff.

The area is considered highly desirable by many, with extremely good schools, very little inventory and sellers who understand how unique and valuable these houses are.
